About Peter Grant
Peter Grant is an abstract expressionist painter who lives and works in Huntsville, Alabama. He has much to be thankful for after undergoing successful double bypass surgery 14 years ago. Born in St. Petersburg, FL, he grew up in Greenville, SC, immersed within an artistic family, and studied at Clemson University.
Peter lives in a world of excitement and color. As a grandfather and father to five children, shared between him and his wife, Charmion, there is always something happening. Abstraction is his simplification of said life. His paintings transcend mere representation. Bright colors and bold strokes breathe life into his works. Movement and excitement are displayed as a captured moment in life. A few lines on a canvas and quickly change to broad paint strokes of color becoming his love of life.
Inspired in his early years by Franz Kline and Hans Hofmann, the later influence of John Nieto is who sparked his desire for simplistic design and powerful subjects.
Driven to paint, Peter paints life and what he loves! He focused on equestrian, sailboats, and sea life themes. Other subjects are often requested, and he is happy to entertain unique subject matters by commission. When not painting, he can be found with Echo, his foundation quarter horse, or at Lake Guntersville with his wife on their sailboat, Southern Star.
